Women aged between 25 and 30 have higher hourly wages than men, according to the Dutch statistics office. An important factor in this respect is that women in this age group are often higher educated than men.
To the best of my knowledge, this is a historic breakthrough in the global level, but there is no joy in this story.. I would say the opposite– we are in 2014, and the gender discrimination is so widespread and prevalent in many areas, including in the labor market. Even in the Netherlands, the average gender gap is still 18 percent, meaning women earn only 82 cents for every euro earned by men.
The struggle for Gender Equality and Women Rights is so far from over and in many places in the world is barely started. This is our moral obligation to join this cause, alongside with other just struggles.
