In Solidarity with Ukraine. ES/PE Statement. Resources for Ukrainian Social Scientists

The Economic Sociology and Political Economy community expresses its utter shock, deepest sorrow, and grave wholehearted concern about the Russian military aggression happening in Ukraine. The ES/PE community abhors this war and condemns it in the strongest possible terms. We stand in profound solidarity with the people of Ukraine, social and political scientists in this sovereign country, faculty and students, and everyone affected by the violent Russian invasion.
As scholars and professionals bound by morality, ethics and responsibility to impartial research, we oppose the malevolent, organized and consistent misuse of “historical” claims in fabricating false vindications for this egregious act of armed offensive.
We praise and stand with scholars, intellectuals, writers, and journalists elsewhere, including in dictatorial Belarus and authoritarian Russia, who have bravely raised their voices against this war, and have defended democracy, civil rights, human rights — and human life.

> In this terrible war situation, with millions fleeing the country, there is an urgent need for help. Please find below a list of foundations, institutions, and universities offering support in research grants, scholarships, and visiting positions to social scientists from Ukraine. Spread this information widely. I see that there are many sources of help within Natural, Computer, Medical sciences — which are listed at the end of the post — but it looks that in social sciences the availably of assistance is scarce. So if you have institutional and organizational power and recourses, stand up and show your active support to Ukraine by extending a hand to Ukrainian social and political scientists. Please also contact me if your organization and other initiatives you are aware of are offering help. It’s the least we can do in the face of the brutality of the war.
